Explore your interests

Read a newspaper. Surf the web. Explore your interests to determine your priorities. Listen to the suggestions professors make in class about how to apply what you are learning to real life.

Get mentored

Learn about the in-depth opportunities where you earn academic credit for experiential learning with a B-W professor as a mentor.

  • Career Services. Make the most of your summer job as a freshmen and think ahead about earning credit for future internships.
  • Honors. Students must be admitted to the Honors Program or receive special permission to take a course.
  • Carmel Living/Learning Center. Carmel hosts the Honors Program and many other freshmen live there, too, where they interact with each other and their professors on a regular basis.
  • Brain Leadership Program. Students can take classes or a minor in leadership at any point in their academic program.
  • Explorations. Many students study off-campus during their sophomore or junior year.  Begin thinking as a freshman about how this might enhance your B-W experience by earning academic credit for off-campus travel.
  • Service Learning. The Office of Community Outreach can help you identify service learning options that earn academic credit. OCO also has a variety of non-credit options available for those who are interested

Take the time to keep track of yourself. Use your E-Portfolio to build your profile and document your activity and growth as you craft your collegiate plans.

Plan ahead

Consider applying to move to a living/learning dormitory your sophomore year and participating in a living/learning course sequence.
