How the Site is Organized

While we really want you to determine what Be That means for yourself, we know the idea is a little ambiguous when you're new to it. Generally speaking, you should aim to be four things while you're at B-W, and the actions found on this Web site are organized accordingly:

  • Be Curious when it comes to your coursework. One of the most important milestones at Baldwin-Wallace is when you select your major and minor. Let’s face it—that’s a big decision. Even if you’re pretty sure of what you want to be, B–W keeps your options open.
  • Be Real when it comes to your experiences. We all learn through experience. As you connect theory to practice, you learn to deal with complex problems, deepen your understanding of real-world issues, and develop skills you will use throughout your career.
  • Be Connected when it comes to your life. The person you become will not doubt be shaped by others. They’ll have viewpoints that could change your perspective, confirm your beliefs, or reveal something important to you. The time you spend with others will be important to your growth.
  • Be Successful when it comes to your plans. Some people measure success by money earned or buildings built, or by challenges overcome. Others may consider themselves successful while living and working among those in need. We won’t define success for you—but we'll help.

Within each of these sections there is a page for each academic year. To start viewing actions, simply select one of the four sections to the left, and then pick an academic year. You'll see suggested actions

Take Action!

This icon is for action steps that can have multiple methods for completion. If an action step is open-ended as to how it can be addressed, you should determine what works best for you.

Don't Forget

Don't forget to do actions with this icon. They're either required to graduate, or they are so important or beneficial that you'd be crazy to not do them.
