This is a great year for you. You can get to classes without consulting a map, but there are still endless opportunities to explore. Got a major? Great. Get advice from your advisors and professors on the best courses for you. Not so much? That’s OK too. Stay curious. We’ll work on it together.

Actions

Document your experiences

Take the time to keep track of yourself. Use your E-Portfolio to build your profile and document your activity and growth as you shape your collegiate plans.

Be intentional

Think about declaring a major and minor by the end of this year. If you’re still uncertain, that’s OK! Continue to sample core courses and you will discover subjects that attract you to further exploration.

Be advised

If you have declared a major, continue to work closely with your advisor and to talk to professors in your major. Find a mentor that will help you through confusing situations, or someone to seek general wisdom from. There are lots of people on campus willing to help you navigate the choices before you.

Explore an internship

Think about possible internships for this summer or for your junior year and discuss them with your advisor and professors. Internships are a great way to experience a real workplace and build your résumé.
