You’re beginning your journey. Maybe you know where you’re headed. Maybe you don’t. We’re here for you either way. Our range of core courses will give you a firm foundation for whatever major you choose. So go ahead – take that pottery class with your roommate. It’ll be fun.
Lay the foundation
Begin your Core Curriculum. This is a great time to sample courses that will introduce you to new ideas and perspectives. If you need prerequisite courses, take them now.
Begin to explore a major
If you entered B-W with a major in mind, take a course (or an introductory sequence of courses) in that field. If you are uncertain about a major, try a course in an area of interest.
Enroll in College 101
This useful B-W primer will help you in your overall transition to college life and introduce you to various opportunities for campus involvement.
Meet your advisor
Meet with your advisor during your first week on campus. Your advisor is a trustworthy resource who is eager to help you get started and to help you grow intellectually and personally throughout your college career.
Get started on your E-Portfolio
Create your E-Portfolio, an “online scrapbook” where you can document your B-W journey with photos, video, journal entries and a personal Action Plan you can shape as you grow.
Broaden your horizons
Consider taking a LAC (Language Across the Curriculum) course. LAC courses are offered in many departments and allow you to apply your foreign language skills, using the perspective of another culture to enhance your understanding of the course subject matter.
Stay on track
Learn to access and understand your Academic Program Evaluation – you and your advisor can use Program Evaluation to track your progress continuously during your years at B-W.
