A boisterous reaction to rising unemployment, falling wages and the concentration of power, Waiting for Lefty is a passionate call for unity and action, with contemporary relevance in this time of NAFTA, CAFTA and rapidly expanding globalization.  First produced in 1935 and inspired by a 1934 taxi-drivers’ strike, the Depression era Waiting for Lefty begins and ends in a union meeting where the membership is debating a strike vote and waiting for the arrival of the leader of a the pro-strike bloc, Lefty Costello.
