Baldwin-Wallace College theatre professor writes and directs new docudrama

The premiere of A Nightmare of Crime based upon the three secret letters of the Sonderkommando at Auschwitz, will be performed at Baldwin-Wallace College’s William Allman Theatre at the Kleist Center in Berea, Ohio.  The original multi-media docudrama is conceived, written and directed by Dr. Jack Winget professor of theatre and communication at Baldwin-Wallace College.  Performance dates are February 27-March 1, March 5-8, 7:30 p.m. and March 2 at 2:00 p.m.  For ticket information, contact the theatre box office at 440-826-2240 – (hours: 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.)

Due to the sensitive subject matter, it is suggested no one under the age of 14 attend unless accompanied by an adult. There will be five interactive forums with Holocaust themes featuring national, international and local scholars.

Katherine Craddy, Director of the Galicia Museum in Krakow, Poland will open “Polish Hero's:  Those Who Rescued Jews” on February 27 in the John Patrick theatre.  The opening will be preceded by a presentation entitled “Traces of Memory: A Contemporary Look at The Jewish Past in Poland.”  The sensitive and touching exhibit features the photography of the noted artist Chris Schwarz and will be on display in the theatre lobby for the run of the play.

The goal of A Nightmare of Crime, the forums and the exhibit is to encourage an awareness of hate and violence in today’s society.  “Stop the Silence” is a message we can all share as we search for ways to exist together in our complex world.
