Sustainability is an exciting new major designed to meet the needs of the twenty-first century. It examines our human relationship to the earth and focuses on current and future needs in ways that address our social, environmental and economic well being.
The first college in Ohio to offer a bachelor's degree in sustainability, we offer four tracks of focused concentration within the major: science, social sciences/humanities, business administration and quantitative analysis.
Relevant
A comprehensive program that combines theory with real-world study, this major encourages you to become a manager of change in cultivating solutions that are practical as well as proactive.
Experiential
With an internship component built into the program, you'll gain real-life, hands-on experience working with an organization engaged in the work of sustainability. In addition, you'll benefit from having a professional mentor in the field of sustainability assigned to you. You'll also gain useful insights through our interdisciplinary capstone course, which integrates knowledge learned in the classroom with practical team-based experience in the community.
Versatile
Career fields in sustainability include:
- corporate or municipal sustainability officer
- non-profit environmental work
- testing, marketing and sales of green products
- environmental consulting and analysis
Offered as a major for students seeking a Bachelor's degree. A certificate program is available for Adult and Continuing Education students.
