Make a difference! Study social patterns, ranging from family dynamics to social inequalities. Gain skills employers and graduate school admissions look for while learning about your community and global society through quality coursework, hands-on research projects and field experience.

Current real-world topics make sociology a major that is relevant and rewarding.  Through thought-provoking seminars, national speakers and other experiential initiatives being offered on campus, you can grasp the complexity of terrorism, racial inequality, global issues and other factors affecting society.

We offer you the option of earning a bachelor's degree or following a 3/2 program. Participants in the 3/2 Social Work Affiliated Program earn a bachelor's degree from BW and a master's degree from Case Western Reserve University.

Strong academics, scientific research and practical field experiences prepare you for career or graduate school success. Faculty mentoring plus a state-of-the-art computer lab offer you hands-on opportunities to analyze data, test hypotheses and conduct research.  Over the years, our students have presented at national conferences and published scholarly works.
