Would you like to feel more confident as a parent? Would you like to have more fun parenting? If yes, then ECCAO is encouraging parents/guardians to be involved with Becoming a Love & Logic Parent®. This is a six-week workshop developed by the Cline-Fay Institute to help parents with “the most important job there is.” The workshop provides practical techniques that help parents achieve respectful, healthy relationships with their children. This powerful workshop will help you understand your child’s behavior, provide practical techniques that can be put to use immediately, and allow you to meet and network with other parents in your community.
The six-session Becoming a Love & Logic Parent® training sequence includes learning:
- To identify four effective steps to teaching responsibility in children
- To better recognize who has control in the parent-child relationships
- How to offer appropriate choices in order to share control
- To identify whether a given problem belongs to the child or to the parent
- How to set limits for children using “thinking words” or enforceable statements
- How to recognize and develop empathy
- To design a strategy for a problem situation or problem behavior
- More effective ways of recognizing and managing one’s own anger
- How to make the attachment relationship between parent and child even better
When in session, these workshops are offered at various convenient times and locations. Child care is available should you need your children to be looked after while you are in the class. Parents will be notified when the funding is secured for the next round of classes to begin.
