Fall 2012 Meeting of the Ohio Section of the Mathematical Association of America

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Baldwin Wallace University welcomes you to the Fall 2012 Ohio Section Meeting, which will be held in the two buildings shown at right. We hope the information below will be helpful as you make plans to attend.

Meeting Dates

  • The general Section Meeting will be held Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20, 2012.
    • Ohio NExT will meet here for a banquet and after-dinner discussion on Thursday evening, October 18 and a workshop on Friday morning, October 19; contact Chris Swanson of Ashland University at cswanson@ashland.edu for more information.
    • The Ohio Section MAA Fall Workshop will be held Saturday afternoon, October 20; contact Karl Hess of Sinclair Community College at Karl.Hess@sinclair.edu for more information.

Registration

Registration is required for:
  • the general Meeting, October 19 and 20 (registration deadline Friday, October 12)
  • the Banquet, Friday, October 19 (ticket price $18.25 | buffet menu (PDF format) | registration deadline Friday, October 12)
  • contributing a talk (registration deadline extended to Wednesday, October 10)
    • Register for each of these three, and submit abstracts for contributed talks, here.
  • the Ohio Section MAA Fall Workshop (register via the MAA Ohio Section web site).

  • All driving, parking, and walking directions needed for the Meetings, including directions to hotels, are found in Directions to Everything (PDF format).

For Speakers

  • All rooms have a computer cart running Windows 7, overhead video projection, and whiteboards.
  • Document cameras ("Elmo's") are available. Please indicate your need for a document camera when you register for the Meeting.
  • You are urged to bring your presentation on a memory stick as a back-up even if you plan to use your own laptop.
  • If you wish to project from an Apple device, then you must bring your own adapter.
  • Presentation remotes ("clickers") for navigating slide presentations are not provided. Please bring your own if you would like to use one.
  • If you have additional needs or technical questions, then please contact David Calvis, below.

Lodging

Four recommended hotels are listed for this Meeting, clustered together roughly a mile east of campus near the I-71 and E. Bagley Rd. interchange. Please see Hotel Information and Directions to Everything (both PDF format) for details.

Area Restaurants and Attractions

Berea and Beyond (PDF format) lists numerous eateries, attractions, and amenities on the campus and in the greater Cleveland area. Also note the many chain restaurants located on E. Bagley Rd. within a mile or so east of campus.
