EDU 574    Introduction to Students with Mild/Moderate Educational Needs
EDU 575    Professional Collaboration and Transition Development

Course Descriptions

Teachers seeking the intervention specialist license must have completed the Ohio 12 hour reading core including a course in phonics, as mandated by Ohio licensure.  Many teachers enrolling in B-W's program have not completed the Ohio 12 hour reading core at the time they first enroll at B-W.  Baldwin-Wallace will help teachers determine which courses are needed if they do not currently have 12 hours of reading.

Flexible Program Start - EDU 573

The Online Intervention Specialist licensure program features a "flexible start" option throughout the year.  You can enroll in the introductory course, EDU 573 Education of Students with Special Needs, at any time during the Fall and Spring semesters, up until the 9th week.  You may take the entire 15 weeks to finish the course (if you enroll early in the semester), or finish it in as few as 5 weeks.  In the summer, you can also enroll in EDU 573 as a 5-week course.

Advantages of the Flexible Program Start:

You don't have to wait 3, 4, or 5 months until a new semester starts to begin your licensure program.
Plan your start around your personal and professional calendar.
Ease into the graduate level course experience. Or jump in fast.
Match the pace of your first course to your personal learning needs.

Once you have completed EDU 573, you will join a cohort of students to complete the rest of the program together - six courses and the practicum.  Cohorts begin in Summer Session 1 (mid-May) and Fall Semester (late August).

Summer Cohort Rotation

Complete the remainder of your online courses and practicum in 14 months.  You must have successfully completed EDU 573 prior to entering the Summer Cohort.
