Submission Guidelines

Information for Contributors

  • Previously unpublished articles presenting materials of interest to Baroque scholars and performers will be given careful consideration for publication in BACH.

  • In general, BACH follows The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th ed. rev., University of Chicago Press, 2003.

  • All copy must be word processed or typed double spaced on 8 x 11 paper. If possible, please submit the article on a PC-compatible disk in addition to the paper copy. The preferred program is Corel Word Perfect for Windows, but other formats are also acceptable.

  • Illustrations: musical examples must either be professionally scribed (black ink on white paper) or computer generated (Sibelius preferred). 

  • Photos should be scanned in grayscale mode with a 250 dpi resolution. They may be in color, but black and white is preferred.. Line art should be scanned in bitmap mode with a 600 dip resolution. Scan art close to size that will be used in article (does not have to be exact)

  • Photographic copies secured from printed music under copyright are unacceptable. Digital or glossy-print photographic copies (5 x 7 or 8 x 10) of early manuscripts, printed pages, city maps, etc., are acceptable when accompanied by title, source, dates of origin, and other bibliographic material, including the names of institutions holding the originals. Such illustrations must be accompanied by permissions to publish from the holding institution.

  • Contributors receive 10 copies of the issue.
