Baldwin-Wallace College FOCUS Festival of Contemporary Music
The Baldwin-Wallace College FOCUS Festival was established in 1984 as a complement to the annual Bach Festival. Its purpose is to promote art music of our time. The biennial FOCUS Festival of Contemporary Music features the music of a contemporary composer who visits Baldwin-Wallace for a weeklong residency. At the conclusion of the week’s rehearsals and symposia, the composer’s music is performed in two concerts, one for large ensembles and the other for chamber groups. During the past twenty-two years FOCUS festivals have presented celebrated composers Loris Chobanian, John Corigliano, Lukas Foss, Karel Husa, Witold Lutoslawski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Gunther Schuller, and Joseph Schwantner to the Northern Ohio music community.
