Dance Program

The dance minor invites all students interested in dance to continue their artistic experience through a combination of technique classes, theory classes, and performance opportunities. The dance technique courses include jazz, ballet, modern, and tap. However all technique courses are offered to all students. Master Classes in dance and other dance technique courses are offered on a regular basis.

Who can minor in dance?
The dance minor can be combined with most any major. It is a complementary minor for students planning to major in theatre, musical theatre, art, music, physical education, and especially those who have an interest in Arts Management. Students considering a minor in Dance who have an interest in the Arts Management Program are encouraged to complete a major in Business Administration.

Internships
The location of Baldwin-Wallace College allows for a variety of potential internships in dance. Many local studios are frequently requesting assistance in the area of teaching and assistance with management duties. Public schools, local community theatres, and professional dance companies often offer internship opportunities.

Campus Organizations
Each year there is a student Dance Concert. There is an open audition for the selection of participants in this student dance production. Students who wish to choreograph for the production must make a formal application to do so and they must be an upperclassman to be eligible. All students are eligible to audition for the campus musicals and opera productions. Notices are always posted for these events. Examples of other organizations offering dance opportunities include: Dance Team, Urban Dance Team, and Hepcat Swing Society.
