Athletic Training Education Program Update - 2008

We are pleased to announce that B-W’s Athletic Training Education Program has been awarded Continuing Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). After a comprehensive evaluation and site visit, our program was found to be in substantial compliance with the nationally recognized Standards for Entry-Level Athletic Training Education. Any students that desire to become BOC Certified Athletic Trainers must graduate from a CAATE accredited program in order to be eligible to sit for the national certification exam.   Learn more about recent program revisions and other news in Athletic Training Education.

Chatham College Partnership

An exciting partnership with Chatham College (Pittsburgh) offers B-W students a direct link into Chatham’s post graduate physical therapy, occupational therapy and physician assistant programs.

Ambassador Program at the University of St. Augustine

The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences has an Ambassador Agreement with Baldwin-Wallace College. This agreement provides an educational track that will permit a student to select both an undergraduate major and a “targeted” post baccalaureate admission to the University of St. Augustine entry-level program in either Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy.

The student that will select this targeted program track will meet both B-W’s academic requirements and the academic requirements for the completion of stated prerequisite courses for admission to the health care programs at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. This Ambassador Program will facilitate the student’s efforts toward accomplishing academic goals and professional development by providing appropriate counseling and guidance to expedite acceptance into our graduate programs. To find out more about this opportunity contact: Dr. Amy Jo Sutterluety at asutterl@bw.edu.

Higgins Center

Thanks to a generous gift from the estate of Lorheta "Lou" Higgins, students and faculty now enjoy the completed expansion and renovation of the Lou Higgins Center (formerly the Recreation Center).  The $7.5million project included 19,500 square feet of new construction along with the renovation of more than 14, 000 square feet.  The expanded center includes larger and updated fitness and weight rooms, additional faculty and coaches' offices, classrooms, and an area to house the Division's academic program in athletic training.  See renderings and computer enhanced images and learn more about the Recreation Center renovation.

HPE Core Revision, Effective for New Students in 2004-2005.

As part of a comprehensive review and revision of its curriculum, all students who entered B-W in 2004-2005 will initiate a new HPE Core requirement, one that incorporates a computer course focusing on personal wellness as well as many activity and classroom options that will encourage current students and graduates to become healthy, active citizens.  HPE activity and classroom courses  designated in the schedule with a "W" (Wellness) are applicable toward the 2-credit requirement.  Courses will be offered throughout the day and selected activity and other wellness-related courses will also be offered in the evenings and on Saturday mornings.
