Spanish Language and Culture

From California to the Canary Islands and Colombia to the Caribbean, Spanish is spoken by 350 million people worldwide. It is an ideal choice for career-savvy students preparing for an increasingly global society.

You will gain competencies in reading, writing, speaking and language comprehension. You also will learn about literature, cultural history, civilization and contemporary lifestyles of Spanish and Latin Americans.

We offer participative classroom discussion and field trips to restaurants and cultural events. In addition, you can join our Spanish language table (La Tertulia) and student organizations.

Study Abroad

Spain, Mexico and Latin America are a few of the places where you can travel, study at a university, and earn BW credit for courses, independent study projects and/or field experiences.  The Seminar in Ecuador is an exciting way to experience Hispanic culture.

Languages Across the Curriculum

An interdisciplinary approach to learning, this program allows you to practice your foreign language skills while earning credit in non-language courses.

Offered as a major and minor.
Can be applied toward Teacher Licensure.
