Whether you are a first-year student or advanced, you’ll find our program offers you a holistic approach to language appreciation and cultural awareness.

Multi-faceted
Beyond the basics, our program helps you gain competencies in reading, writing, speaking and language comprehension.  In addition, you’ll learn about literature, cultural history, civilization and contemporary lifestyles.

Through our Languages Across the Curriculum program, you can meld foreign language into your B-W experience.  This interdisciplinary approach to learning allows you to utilize your foreign language skills while earning credit in non-language courses.

Enriching
Participative classroom discussion, field trips to restaurants, films and cultural events, plus interactive language tables and student organizations bring learning to life.  Whether you are in Berea, nearby Cleveland or its other suburbs, you are a short drive away from a multitude of ethnic influences and cultural activities.

Journeying beyond northeast Ohio, you can spend a semester overseas traveling with a group tour, studying at a university or creating your own immersion experience through our study abroad program.

Baldwin-Wallace College offers majors and minors in Spanish, French and German, and has course offerings in Chinese and Italian.
