Discover the Art of Vienna, Prague, & Budapest

 

May 14-28, 2006

ALL MAJORS ARE WELCOME!

The Department of Art and Art History, the Explorations/Study Abroad Center and the  Alumni Office have created a 15-day study tour.  Led by Dr. Harold Cole, Professor of History of Art and Dr. Anna Cole, Writing Specialist, this study tour will examine sites in historic Vienna, Prague, and Budapest - the capital cities of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire!

ACADEMIC CREDIT

Participants of this study tour will receive 4 semester hours in ART 237. 

Satisfies:  Fine Arts core credit and once course of International Studies.

REQUIREMENTS

Students will be required to attend two lecture/orientation sessions:
 April 28 and May 6, 2006 in Marting Hall, room 114 at 7:00 p.m.

Students will also be required to keep a journal recording what was learned during these cultural visits.  Journals will be collected at the end of the study tour.  Class participation during the tour is also required.   A slide quiz will be given and an extensive research paper will be due at the end of the summer term.  Grading will be on a S/U basis (except art history majors).  

PROGRAM FEE

  • Cost for Full-Time students is $3,690 (plus tuition fees)
  • Cost for Part-Time Evening/Weekend students is $5586 (includes tuition cost for 4 credit hours)
  • Cost for Part-Time Day students is $6298 (includes tuition cost for 4 credit hours)

Cost includes:

  • Roundtrip airfare
  • Land transportation throughout Austria, Czech Republic, and Hungary 
  • Accommodations
  • Continental breakfasts, two (2) lunches, and one (1) dinner 
  • Tips for guides and drivers
  • Admission fees

STUDY ABROAD GRANT

Based on financial need, students who participate in the Discover the Art of Vienna, Prague and Budapest may be eligible for a $925 study abroad grant.

A $300 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a space no later than January 18, 2006.
