Germany Rocks! (Spring 2005) is a fun and exciting five and a half week study tour through Germany and Austria, preceded by eight weeks of on-campus preparation and orientation. Participation in Germany Rocks! fulfills the International Studies requirement and partially fulfills Natural Science requirements of the core curriculum (Science with a Lab). Any sophomore, junior, or senior in good standing at Baldwin-Wallace College may apply. No previous German language is required!
Tentative Itinerary (Minimester B):
- March 19-April 3: Heidelberg
- April 4-8: Munich
- April 9-13: Salzburg, Austria
- April 14-19: Dresden
- April 20-24: Bonn & Cologne
- April 25: return to USA
Academic Credit (Minimester A):
Required:
- GEO 111-The Dynamic Earth (4 natural science lab credit hours)
- GER 240- Contemporary Germany (3 credit hours)
Also Available:
- HUM 285: Introduction to Intercultural Communication (3 credit hours optional)
- GER 221: Germany Conversation (2 credit hours)
*All courses are graded A-F, unless the student chooses to be graded S/U.
Academic Credit (Minimester B):
- GER 288: The German Experience (6 credit hours)-completed in Germany.
Cost:
All participants will pay full-time B-W tuition for Spring semester in addition to the Germany Rocks! program fee of $2000. Residential students will pay the entire room and board for the Spring semester. Commuters will pay five and a half weeks worth of room and board to cover the costs while in Germany in addition to the program fee. This amount includes tuition, round trip airfare from Cleveland, language instruction, ground transportation, an allowance for meals, lodging, scheduled events and admission fees.
Students normal financial aid is fully applicable to Germany Rocks! If you have not studied abroad previously, you may qualify for a study abroad grant to help reduce the cost.
