B-W Group Study Tours: Seminar in Europe

 STEP INTO EUROPE

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

For nearly 3 decades, the Seminar in Europe has been exposing Baldwin-Wallace undergraduates to the vast history of Europe. This seminar involves a 6-week study tour through Europe, preceded by eight weeks of intensive study and orientation on campus at Baldwin-Wallace.  This experience is designed to provide students with the opportunity to take a significant step in their intellectual and personal growth through informed visits to sites of major importance in the development of Western culture. Since 1976, over 500 students from B-W have participated in this seminar and its predecessor, the highly regarded Humanities Year Program.

YOUR ITINERARY: 

Greece:  Athens, Delphi and Olympia
Italy:  Florence, Venice, and Rome
Munich, Germany
Paris, France
and London, England!
 

Students may earn at least 14 credit hours for Seminar in Europe, comprised of  two minimesters: one on-campus and the other off-campus.  Students take 4 courses during the first minimester.

 

YOUR COURSEWORK:

  

HUM 287: Seminar in Europe (2 credits)
ART 236: European Museums and Architecture (2 credits)
ENG 129: British Theater Today (2 credits)
ENG 129: Travel Narratives & Background (2 credits)

Optional-  Any 1-4 credit course offered in minimester A.
 
While you are abroad you will also receive credit in:  HUM 288: The European Experience (6 credits).

Participation in the Seminar in Europe program fulfills the International Studies and Fine Arts requirement of the core curriculum.   Any Sophomore, Junior or Senior in good standing may apply.  Preference is given to Junior and Seniors. 
 
 

YOUR COSTS:

Students will pay Baldwin-Wallace tuition, room and board fees plus an additional program fee of $3750.  Financial aid may apply.  Coursework requires students to be of full-time status.
