Itinerary for Shaw Festival Trip, August 6-8, 2004

This trip is an integral part of ENG 128-XIM:  Introduction to Drama.  This immersion course will meet Saturday and Sunday, July 31 and August 1 from 9-5 on campus and August 7 and 8 at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.  Students will read and discuss 6 plays and see 4 productions at the Shaw festival.  Assignments will include in class writing, an oral presentation, a performance review, and one paper interpreting a play not discussed in class.

To cover the expenses of the trip to the Shaw Festival, there will be a program fee in addition to the normal tuition costs.  This fee will vary from $194-$375 depending upon the student's preference for accommodations. Prices are subject to adjustment according to the exchange rate, and the final cost will be determined when the tickets are purchased at the beginning of July. Guests will pay the program fee, but not the tuition costs.

All students enrolled in the course are expected to be present in Niagara-on-the-Lake for the second weekend of class. Students may bring guests with them to Niagara-on-the-Lake, but all students are expected to attend class on Saturday and Sunday morning and for a brief period after the matinee on Sunday, so guests will have to be able to entertain themselves during those classtimes.
