Conservatory Women's Committee

The BW Conservatory Women's Committee was organized in 1963 for the purpose of supporting and promoting the activities of the Conservatory and its students.

This women’s committee hosts the Holiday Concert, Big Band Alumni Jazz Concert, Bach Festival reception for guest artists, receptions for graduating seniors, a fall coffee, mid-winter salad luncheon & spring luncheon complete with entertainment provided by our very talented faculty & students, and host student recital receptions offering the parents a worry free experience.  ALL funds raised are returned to the Conservatory and YES, THEY BAKE LOTS OF COOKIES!

Over the past 50+ years the women’s committee has made contributions totaling over $145,000 including over $80,000 to outstanding students.  Over the years, they have contributed funds to remodel and purchase new furniture for the Gamble auditorium green room and guest dressing rooms; purchased specialty instruments for student use; contributed to the All Steinway initiative by purchasing a Boston upright piano; purchased a collection of DVDs to establish the Music-In-Film library now used to teach the Music in Film seminar; assisted in funding students studying abroad and donated over $3500 to the Bach festival along with countless hours of volunteer work where needed.

Membership in this committee is open to EVERYONE who has a love of the arts and music and a desire to see the vision of the Conservatory continue to grow and prosper.  NO affiliation with the University or the Conservatory is necessary so please share this information with others.  Annual membership dues are $25.  The Board of Directors meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month from September through May and everyone is welcome.

Please contact Michelle Ferguson at 440-826-2086 or email bwconwomen@bw.edu for additional information; board meeting dates, times and location; or to join this amazing group of women.

Members of the Conservatory Women's Committee celebrate their 40th anniversary.
