Alumni Achievement Awards

Each year, the Conservatory's Alumni Achievement Awards Committee invites a graduate to campus to accept recognition of their significant contributions to the field of music. Occurring during the fall semester, the event typically includes a concert and on-campus dinner, to which award-winners' family members and friends are invited. Conservatory faculty members serve as presenters, offering summaries of the graduates' achievements. The 2013 Conservatory Alumni Achievement Award will go to Deborah Barrett Price '84.  For more information on the 2013 Conservatory Alumni Achievement award recognition, please click here.

She has coordinated and helped prepare multiple ensembles to compete in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition (junior division) and the finals of the Saint Paul String Quartet Competition where CMC groups have won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.  She has prepared several ensembles and soloists for appearances on NPR’s From the Top radio and television shows and made her national conducting debut on the radio show in June 2008.  Articles highlighting her unique teaching style have been published in American Music Teacher, Journal of American Viola Society, Keyboard Companion Magazine, and American String Teacher. She has served on the American String Teacher Editorial Committee and as the Chamber Music Forum editor.  She is currently working on a series of chamber music pedagogy videos and materials titled after a quote of her’s, “Breathe together, Move together, Play together.”
