A Typical Day at SMI
An Institute student's day begins early! One of the goals of SMI is to give students a taste of what Conservatory life is like - so classes, lessons, practice time, ensembles, seminars, masterclasses, and concerts are all part of a student's day. In addition to the schedule below, all Institute students receive four 45-minute private lessons during the two-week period.

8:00 am Breakfast
Early Bird Practice
8:30 am Music Theory
9:30 am Supervised Practice Time
10:30 am Orchestra rehearsal
Chamber Choir rehearsal
11:30 am Masterwork rehearsal
12:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm Insitute Singers rehearsal
Community Hour Presentations (alternate days)
2:00 pm Chamber Music coaching and rehearsal and/or
Private Lessons
4:00 pm Seminars/ Masterclasses
5:30 pm Dinner
Evenings Recreation activities, concerts, field trips, movie nights
