Our orchestras and ensembles provide talented young musicians with opportunities to expand and strengthen their musical skills and knowledge. The programs are designed to be supplemental to area school programs, and it is expected that all orchestra members play in their own school ensembles, where they exist. In addition, members are encouraged to participate in as many school musical activities as possible to increase their playing experience. New members are accepted each September and January.
An audition is required for membership in any ensemble. The audition day for new members for the Spring 2009 semester is Saturday, January 10, 2009. Call the Outreach Office to schedule an audition time: 440-826-2365. Students with no prior orchestral experience should expect to enroll in String Ensemble.
String Ensemble -- Saturdays, 12:00 to 1:00 pm
A beginning ensemble for new string players with a minimum of 4 months playing experience. Students do not need to be taking private lessons to play in String Ensemble.
Cost: $85 per semester plus registration fee
- String Orchestra -- Saturdays, 1:00 to 2:30 pm
For students who have had a minimum of one year private study.
Cost: $100 per semester plus registration fee
String Ensemble and String Orchestra will present two concerts during the year, one in December and one in May.
- Junior Youth Orchestra -- Saturdays, 9:00 to 10:15 am
For students who have had a minimum of two years private study of string instruments.
Cost: $100 per semester plus registration fee
- Senior Youth Orchestra -- Saturdays, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
For students who have had a minimum of three years of private study of string, wind, or percussion instruments.
Cost: $125 per semester plus registration fee
Junior and Senior Youth orchestras have three concerts per year, in December, March, and May. In addition, members of Senior Youth orchestra may compete in the annual Concerto Competition held in December. The winner will perform with the Senior Youth orchestra on the March concert.
