Percussion Ensemble
Youth Percussion Ensemble
for students in grades 7 - 12
Megan Poletti, Director
The BW Youth Percussion Ensemble provides the most advanced area high school and middle school percussion players with an opportunity to develop and improve ensemble skills under the supervision of Director Megan Poletti and occasional coaching from BW percussion professor and member of the professional percussion ensemble AFRICA->WEST Josh Ryan. The ensemble performs at the end of each semester and the performances are free and open to the public.
Members are encouraged to play many different traditional percussion instruments including timpani, snare drum, bass drum, accessory instruments, xylophone and marimba and are introduced to percussion instruments from around the world. Students are taught valuable chamber music skills and instructed on performance techniques, playing advanced rhythms and care for percussion instruments.
Percussion Ensemble auditions will be September 4th. Auditions are made by appointment only.
*Past participants are not required to audition, however they must contact Conservatory Outreach office to confirm attendance prior to the first rehearsal.
