Chemistry

Stephen Tytko

My goals in teaching chemistry are to build a solid foundation of chemical knowledge, to teach students how to think critically about problems and to continue learning beyond the classroom.  Because of our small class sizes, we are more available to give individual attention to students as needed.  My principal courses are Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Organic Spectroscopy and a non-majors course covering the chemical industry.  My training as a synthetic organic chemist has led my research interests into the area of synthetic methodology and, most recently, into the area of polymer science.
