Participants will be selected by the faculty teaching in each of the programs in consultation with the Residence Life Staff. Students who are accepted will be expected to meet the program and residential requirements as specified for the entire 2008-09 academic year. The remainder of the student’s academic schedule will be determined in consultation with the student’s academic advisor. The Living Learning Center is a community in which interaction among residents in a classroom setting is a key component. Enrollment in a course sequence for the full academic year is a requirement for residency in the Living Learning Center.
Each program has different requirements and features and will bring together up to 24 students with shared interests. Students take classes in a chosen discipline in classrooms located within the hall and earn credit for their Carmel courses each semester. Students live with one another taking the same course and share hall sections with their classmates. Program faculty, students, and the residence life staff together develop communities within and among the different programs in the building.
Students enrolling in the Living Learning Center Program should plan to arrive on campus on Friday, August 22, 2008 for a series of special programs planned for the August 22-24, 2008 period prior to the formal start of classes.
