Donna VanRooy joins the Baldwin-Wallace community as director of the Center for Professional Development. She brings leadership and experience to the position which she gained through her recent career as an independent consultant and as a vice president and senior leadership development program manager for KeyCorp. While there she led implementation of an enterprise-wide leadership development program for 2,000 managers nationwide. VanRooy plans to continue to build on the success of the Center for Professional Development through education partnerships, community outreach and person-centered learning.
VanRooy said that education has always been of vital importance to her. In her prior position, she dealt with corporate education programs but said, “My long term goal has always been to get closer to academia. It's in my core and I really want to have that surrounding me.” In her role at the College, she will continue to work with education and business backed by the B-W experience. VanRooy said she feels fortunate to walk into a success story that has been in place for 30 years. She hopes to build on that success by increasing the awareness of the benefits the Professional Development Program provides.
“The Division of Business has wonderful faculty and great specializations,” she said. “I hope to align our program more closely to them.” She sees her program being used as a link...bring people to B-W for programs that may encourage them to come back to the College in a degree program.
VanRooy earned a B.S. and a B.A. from Bowling Green State University, and an M.B.A. from The Ohio State University.
