James Yezbak, in his third-year of the Baldwin-Wallace "Three-Two" program to earn both a bachelor's and a master's degree, will have an MBA in accounting when he completes the five-year plan.
But he is putting his academic learning to work right now as an intern at Glengary LLC, which recently chose B-W as its educational partner.
"Glengary is a hybrid - it calls itself a venture catalyst enterprise - that can inject its people into start-up companies as interim CEOs, who then teach the upcoming CEOs how to run their companies," Yezbak said.
"The gentlemen I work with have really showed me what it takes to be successful in business," Yezbak said. "Beyond the tenacity required, they've shown me that it's important to be successful not just for yourself, but also to pursue other avenues of success, such as being a contributor to your community."
As a Glengary intern, he is invited to attend operating partner meetings, where Glengary principals discuss how to pursue deals and how to choose client companies that exhibit compelling advantages and are likely to become the dynamic businesses of the future.
The Strongsville resident, 21, said he knew what was in his textbooks, but now is learning to apply that learning to real life. He's finding that his dad's advice was right: "Go to Baldwin-Wallace. It's ahead of the pack because it offers opportunities that other schools just don't offer."
