Peter E. Raskind

Spring 2012

On January 17, 2012, Peter E. Raskin, a career banker with over 30 years of commercial banking experience, talked with Linda L. Bluso, Chair, Division of Business Administration in a town hall format on "Leading Change".  Over one hundred students, faculty, business leaders and community members attended and were invited to participate by submitting their questions to Mr. Raskind as part of his conversation.

In addition to his banking career, Mr. Raskind has also been a consultant to banks and private equity bank investors.  He provides perspective on market opportunity, strategy, operations, asset quality and management and regulatory relations.

Mr. Raskind began his career with National City Bank in 2000 as the Manager of the Consumer Finance Division and led the Consumer Small Business Financial Services Division until he was appointed Vice Chairman in 2004.  He was named President in December 2006.  Until its merger with PNC Financial Services Group on December 31, 2008, Mr. Raskind served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.

After leaving National City, Mr. Raskind served as a volunteer in two key positions:  as Interim President and CEO of the Cleveland-Cuyahoga Port Authority in 2010 and as Interim CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in 2011.  He is currently a Director of United Community Banks, Inc., a publicly-held $8 billion Georgia bank holding company.
