Summary:

Thomas S. Campanella has almost 30 years of experience in the health care industry, specifically with the health insurance, physician and hospital sectors. As a former Vice President of Health Care Finance and Care Management at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Ohio/Medical Mutual of Ohio, Mr. Campanella was responsible for hospital and physician contracting and reimbursement; care management (Utilization Review, Case Management/Disease Management); provider credentialing and product development. He also had been responsible for the group-reporting department, which analyzed employer groups' health care costs and utilization data in order to help them design a customized health care plan.

As Associate Dean of Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Chief Operating Officer of the University Osteopathic Medical Center, Mr. Campanella was responsible for five multispecialty clinical sites and 40 physicians. The clinic was a major provider of health care services in Southeast Ohio

Mr. Campanella also developed experience as a CPA (currently inactive) while at one of the Big Six accounting firms in auditing and consulting with clients in the corporate, not-for-profit, governmental and health care sectors.

As Associate Professor of Social Medicine at Ohio University, Mr. Campanella taught Health Care Finance, Health Care Economics and Managed Care to undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. 

Mr. Campanella has served as chairperson of the Athens Health Alliance Board of Directors and chairperson of the Consortium of Appalachian Medical Providers (an organization of safety-net providers). He has spoken on health care policy issues at both regional and national conferences.  Mr. Campanella has also provided consulting for employers in the area of health care benefit management, along with strategic planning for hospital, physician, and managed care organizations.

Mr. Campanella is a professor at Baldwin Wallace University School of Business as well as the Director of the Health Care MBA program. As a professor at Baldwin Wallace University, he specializes in both teaching and speaking on topics relating to health economics and policy at the national and state level.  Mr. Campanella is also an Associate Professor of Social Medicine at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. Mr. Campanella has an Of-Counsel relationship with Baker Hostetler law firm, specializing in health care and employee benefit law. He continues to provide consulting services to diverse areas of the health care industry. Mr. Campanella earned his B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Ohio University in 1972 and 1973 respectively, and his J.D. from Cleveland- Marshall College of Law in 1976.
