Business Division

Dr. Robert Ward

Raised in a bilingual home, Dr. Robert E. Ward has presented scholarly papers at academic conferences in Germany and the United States. He has also authored books and scholarly articles published in German and English. In addition to the Hilbert T. Ficken Award from a B-W faculty committee, he is the recipient of four teaching awards from B-W students groups. In 1992, he received the Distinguished Service Cross, First Class, of the Federal Republic of Germany for his academic work and leadership in improving German-American relations.
 
He received his bachelor's degree from B-W. his master's from Indiana University, his Ph.D from Vanderbilt University and his J.D from the University of Akron School of Law. Before becoming a lawyer, he taught at several universities,  eventually serving  as a professor and department chairman at Youngstown State University.
 
Prior to establishing his law practice, he was employed as an accountant, U.S. Treasury Dept. bank examiner, and Project Director in the Division of Human Resources and Economic Development of the City of Cleveland.  In addition to his work as a trial lawyer, Dr. Ward concentrated his practice in the areas of  probate, business law and business organizations.
 
At B-W he has specialized in teaching business law, ethics and communications. He has also acted as a consultant and trainer in business communications to various American companies and governmental organizations.
