Laura Blesse-Hampton's medical background includes hematology/oncology, gastroenterology and surgery. She is currently clinically active with the Cleveland Clinic in their pre-anesthesia clinic.
Blesse-Hampton serves as the faculty advisor for the Baldwin Wallace University Physician Assistant Student Society (BWUPASS). She has been published by the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (JAAPA) and has acted as a peer reviewer for the journal since 2010. She has also served as subject matter expert and exam review participant for the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) since 2015. In 2022, the NCCPA appointed her to a four-year term as the exam program chair for the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE).
Her special interests include the prevention and awareness of opioid addiction and the use of ultrasound to improve patient outcomes. She is a member of the Cuyahoga County Opiate Task Force and the Society for Point of Care Ultrasound (SPOCUS). She has served as an instructor in the ultrasound workshops at the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) national conference since 2018. She also works with Practical POCUS, an organization that travels around the country to teach medical professionals how to maximize their use of bedside ultrasound.
In October 2018, she was awarded the Jerry A. Greco, PA-C Memorial PA Educator of the Year by the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants. In May 2019, she was awarded the Golden Probe Award in recognition of her contributions and service to the SPOCUS mission.
