Here’s a question for you: How is what you’re learning in class relevant outside of class? Exploring your interests can help to determine your priorities, so go deeper. See what’s out there. Your B-W advisors will be happy to investigate your options with you.

Actions

Discuss your options

This is a year to actively consider all options available to you. Meet with your advisor to discover how best to meet your needs and interests.

Plan ahead

Most sustained experiential learning activities require advance planning of at least a semester and sometimes a full year in advance, so begin preparations early.

Add to your Action Plan

Take the time to keep track of yourself. Use your E-Portfolio and Action Plan to build your profile and document your activity and growth as you craft your collegiate plans.

Explore your world

Off-campus study requires planning about a year in advance. Visit the Explorations office to learn more. Then, talk to your advisor to discover how this fits with your own academic interests.

Be a leader now

You can add a Leadership minor or take Leadership classes at any point in your academic program. Be sure to consider these options.

Be of service

The Office of Community Outreach can help you identify service learning opportunities that earn academic credit. OCO also has a variety of non-credit options for those interested.

Create and collaborate

The Faculty-Student Collaborative Scholarship program (FSCS) gives you a unique opportunity to work with a B-W faculty member on a scholarly, research or other creative project.

Explore an internship (or three)

Students who complete at least three internship experiences before graduation tend to be the most attractive applicants to potential employers or grad schools. Talk it over with your advisors.
